These private properties are also conserved forever by the land trust. Conserving our scenic ridgelines and outstanding wildlife habitat has incredible public value, driving our economy by preserving the rural character of our community and providing refuge for wildlife such as game fish, elk, and deer, to thrive. Whether people visit here because of its natural beauty or to hunt its outstanding fishing and hunting, our economy benefits from conservation of private lands. In 2010, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife stated that $28.7 million dollars in revenue was added to our local economy through hunting and fishing. While these private conservation easements do not offer public access, they do provide these other important public benefits.

These private properties are also conserved forever by the land trust. Ranching families built the west and define the character of our community. Their stories inspire us and their lands support livestock and wildlife that feed us today. Ranchers are a dying breed and their lands are increasingly subject to buyout by land speculators seeking to build the next subdivision. By conserving these lands, we ensure continued agricultural use and conserve ranching culture, agricultural production, incredible scenic views, healthy rivers, and critical wildlife habitat. While these private conservation easements do not offer public access, they do provide these other important public benefits.
