Conserving our scenic ridgelines and outstanding wildlife habitat has incredible public value, driving our economy by preserving the rural character of our community and providing refuge for wildlife such as game fish, elk, and deer, to thrive. Whether people visit here because of its natural beauty or to hunt its outstanding fishing and hunting, our economy benefits from conservation of private lands. In 2010, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife stated that $28.7 million dollars in revenue was added to our local economy through hunting and fishing. While these private conservation easements do not offer public access, they do provide these other important public benefits.
