2023 CLC Series: Horn Ranch History Hike (October 14)

Join the Eagle Valley Land Trust and the Eagle County Historical Society for a guided hike at the spectacular Horn Ranch! Back by popular demand, this program will take you to the site of the historic Horn Ranch sandstone quarry, which produced stones for Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel in the late 1800s. The Historical Society will share stories about the quarry, the highways and bridge, and the colorful characters who lived at Horn Ranch. Don’t miss this opportunity to hike on private land, enjoy sweeping views of Red Canyon in the fall, and learn fun trivia!

De regreso por demanda popular, este programa te llevará al sitio de la histórica cantera de arenisca de Horn Ranch, que produjo piedras para el Brown Palace Hotel de Denver a fines del siglo XIX. When / Cuándo: Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm / Sábado el 14 de octubre de 2023 de las 9:30 am hasta las 12:00 pm

Where / Dónde: Horn Ranch between Eagle and Wolcott. We’ll meet at the parking area on the north side of Highway 6. / Horn Ranch entre Eagle y Wolcott. Nos reuniremos en la zona de aparcamiento del lado norte de la Autopista 6.

What to wear and expect / Qué ponerse y esperar: Dress for the season in proper layers and wear sturdy shoes to trek rocky, uneven terrain. / Vístete para la temporada con capas de ropa adecuadas y usa zapatos resistentes para caminar por terrenos rocosos y desiguales. 

What to bring / Qué traer: Sun protection and a large, full water bottle. EVLT will provide snacks and extra water for refilling your water bottle. / Protección solar y una botella llena de agua. EVLT proporcionará un refrigerio y agua extra para rellenar tu botella de agua.
