Community Land Connection Series: Horn Ranch Historical Tour (June 11th)

Join Eagle Valley Land Trust, Eagle County Historical Society, and Eagle County Open Space. for a guided hike of the historic stone quarry on private land at Horn Ranch from 8:30am-11:00am Friday, June 11, 2021.
The quarry at Horn Ranch produced stones for Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel in the late 1800s. Participants will learn about a unique part of Eagle County history and enjoy views of Red Canyon. Horn Ranch Open Space is protected forever through a partnership between Eagle County Open Space and Eagle Valley Land Trust.
When: June 11, 8:30am
Where: Horn Ranch in Eagle.
Directions: Horn Ranch is located on the North side of Highway 6 between Wolcott and Eagle.
Look for the wooden sign and gravel parking area.
Bring: Those interested should come prepared to spend 2 hours outside with sun protection, water, proper layers for Colorado weather, sturdy hiking shoes, and trekking poles if desired. In accordance with the current public health order and to protect participants and our community, we ask that you please bring a face covering and hand sanitizer. Although we love dogs, they can have an impact, especially for wildlife. Please leave your furry friends at home.
Weather: This hike is weather-dependent, please check EVLT’s Facebook page on the day of the hike for information if there is inclement weather.
This hike is free and open the public but space is limited and remember, registration is REQUIRED. Please register below to secure your spot.
