Leaving a meaningful legacy depends on parents and offspring bridging the communication gap to talk about intergenerational equity and heritage. It’s hard to talk through what will happen after a loved one passes, but planning for a lasting legacy gives families the opportunity to share their most important values, beliefs, wishes, and lessons learned.

Join an intimate group of your peers and hear from Jeff Tranel, Agricultural and Business Economist with Colorado State University, who has consulted with hundreds of groups and individual farm and ranch families across the country. In his 34-year career, he has witnessed families both struggle and succeed with intergenerational equity and legacy.

According to Tranel, legacy planning is more than simply hiring an attorney to draft an estate plan. We leave behind much more than just money and property. In fact, a national study found that non-financial items are 10 times more important than financial assets to transition onto the next generation.

This event is for anyone interested in planning for retirement, formalizing estate plans, and leaving a legacy for the next generation. Past participants of Tranel’s workshops found the information to be invaluable as their families discussed individual legacies and the future of their land, farms, and ranches.
