Community Land Connection Series: Horn Ranch Historical Tour (June 10th)
by Bergen Tjossem
The quarry at Horn Ranch produced stones for Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel in the late 1800s. Participants will learn about a unique part of Eagle County history and enjoy views of Red Canyon. Horn Ranch Open Space is protected forever through a partnership between Eagle County Open Space and Eagle Valley Land Trust.
When: Friday, June 10th, 9:00am – 11:30am
Where: Horn Ranch (North side of Highway 6 between Wolcott and Eagle.)
Bring: We will be encountering unpredictable weather and conditions in the field. Those interested should come prepared to spend 2-3 hours outside with sun protection, water, proper layers for Colorado weather, sturdy hiking shoes, and trekking poles, if desired. Although we love dogs, they can have an impact, especially for wildlife. Please leave your furry friends at home.
